Clear eyes, Full Heart ..

It's summer and I finally have time to sit down and catch up on Netflix! I've been looking for a new show to watch and I stumbled upon Friday Night Lights on my top picks. Holy. Smokes. I am IN LOVE with this show! Every time I hear that Explosions in the Sky intro song, it hits me right in the gut and all that feeling of nostalgia smacks me in the face. Now, I'm not a huge fan of Football. I have no clue on how it's played but this show is much more than football. It has a lot of characters that make you feel like you know them or at least some version of them.

I was in marching band in high school so I've attended my fair share of football games. Granted that I never paid attention because our team never won a game and totally sucked- I gotta say that Friday Night Lights changed my mind about football. There's so much heart in it. I understand the meaning of team work and those Dillon Panthers have me cheering in my room! I've cried. I've laughed. I've been on the edge of my seat.

Besides football- we need to talk about how wonderful Coach Taylor and Tami are! I'm only on season 2 but I love their dynamic. They're so loving and supportive of each other- definitely #relationshipgoals besides their annoying daughter Julie, they're basically the best.

Now, let's talk about all the gorgeous people on the show! Starting off with the men, there's Tim Riggins.. Jason Street.. Matt Saracen.. Smash.. etc. I don't know what it is about men who play sports but they're very attractive! With the girls, there's Lyla.. Tyra.. It's amazing how this show managed to cast really attractive people and make them look normal.

Anyways, I'm midway of season 2 can't wait to see what else the series has to offer!

So.. What now?

Yesterday was a complete BLUR. It started out like any other day. I got up, put on my makeup and did my hair and got dressed. Little did I know how crazy this day would be! I put on my graduation cap and gown and headed out to my commencement ceremony. Initially I accepted that I was gonna sit by myself because I had no idea which of my friends were graduating let alone where they were sitting, so I went to check in and luckily I ran into them! I ran into some more friends and I had a group of friends to sit with! I'm so glad I was sitting with them cause honestly it all felt so surreal. Everything was happening so quickly I kind of wanted it to last forever. The speeches went by incredibly fast and soon I was walking across the stage with my name being pronounced and shaking hands with the dean! I barely had time to process what was happening!

After the ceremony, I walked out and found my family and friends. I took so many pictures- but I still feel like I didn't take enough! Oh well. I'll post some pics below! I also had a graduation BBQ at my house after and I had such a great time chatting and hanging out with my friends and family. It was an amazing day! I still can't get over it!

So- now onto the big question. What now? What am I going to do with my life? Well I'll tell you. I have no clue! I actually kind of like not knowing. It just opens up so many possibilities. I want to fully enjoy my life. It'll be so weird to not go to school anymore. I mean I've been going to school my entire life! Now I have all this time to focus on me. Yikes! It hasn't full hit me yet.

I'll keep ya posted on my journey!

Vital College Tips

I'm procrastinating writing my papers right now so with graduation right around the corner- I thought it would be fun to post up tips about how I survived college. I honestly wish I had someone tell me this my freshman year before figuring it out on my own :P

1. See your adviser every quarter/semester!
I cannot stress this enough! I visited my adviser every quarter to make sure that I was taking the right classes and on the right track to graduate. I didn't want to waste my time taking classes I didn't need. When I was a freshman, I had no idea what I was doing and my adviser really helped map out everything for me. You don't want to be that person who thinks you got everything right and find out that you're missing units and can't graduate. Trust me- I've seen it happen to other people! Don't let it happen to you!

2. Bring snacks
College is so different from high school. You may have a class in the morning and then a huge 3-4 hour gap till your next class. Make sure to bring snacks with you to keep you from passing out. Buying food on campus can get pretty pricy so bring your own!

3. Learn how to use Google Doc!
No matter what your major is, you can't escape group projects! Whether you're taking a GE course or a upper division- group projects are the absolute worst. Be sure to learn how to use google doc! Google doc allows you to share documents with other people and everyone can edit on the page. You can open up word documents and presentation slides.

4. Get involved on Campus
There are tons of clubs on campus to join. You'll get to meet tons of new people and make friends! College is harder to meet people, so be sure to hang out and find the right club for you. But hey-clubs aren't for everyone. Its okay if you don't join anything.

5. Exercise!
DO NOT fall into the Freshman 15 trap! Walk to your classes and resist the tempting delicious foods on campus! Most schools have gyms that are FREE for students. Take advantage of that!

6. Make sure your professors know your name and face!
This will come in handy when they're grading. Going to office hours and saying hello to them makes a world difference. They'll know you're trying and help you succeed. Don't be afraid to ask them questions.

7. If you don't succeed, try again.
It's okay if you get a bad grade, retake the class. It's not the end of the world. I once thought it was but I didn't let it get to me.

8. LIVE IT UP
It's college! Don't be afraid, live your life! Do as many things as you can. Go to concerts, go bar hopping, go to campus events, go on a road trip! There's nothing stopping you. You will never be as young as you are today. Take advantage of this time.

Best of luck to you! x

Impulsive Decisions!!

Hey guys! Things have been absolutely crazy in my life! For some reason, I've been on an impulse decision roll! I put in my two weeks notice at one of my jobs that I've been working there for 5 years!! Can you believe it? I started when I was 17 and one day two weeks ago,  I was thinking to myself. "Yup. Time to quit" It was weird cause it came out of nowhere! But honestly, I'm glad I did it. It's time for a new adventure! And plus I still have my other job which is totally fine with me. More time to focus. Since I'll be graduating soon- time to start thinkin' ahead!

Oh yea! I came back from Coachella weekend 2! It was insane! I'll put some pictures I took below. The weather was amazing the first day then it turned gross. It was super hot (90-95 degrees) and I seriously almost died of heat stroke. My cooling towel SAVED my life! I didn't know how people were doing without one. It cooled off my body and was super refreshing. All the bands were amazing, it's so hard to say who was my favorite but Florence and the machine, Porter Robinson, Vance Joy, George Ezra, Axwell and Ingrosso totally killed it! I'm blanking on who else I saw but nevertheless I enjoyed myself! Camping was not so fun. It was kinda horrible- but I did it!

Let's see.. I also booked myself a trip to Italy!! YEA! You read that right! I can't believe it. I was just like "Fuck it- I'm doing it"  and I did! I was always really hesitant to do it- remember my other post about being stuck between responsibility and wanderlust? I threw that out the window :P I booked my trip with EF College Break. Hopefully it'll be an amazing trip. I'm doing it solo but I'm hoping to make friends and hangout with them. If not- I'm totally independent so it's not a problem on my own. Eckk! I'm so excited. I'll update you guys more when the time comes! :)

I bought tickets to Outsidelands! The line up this year is amazing, so I can't wait to go! I went last year and had an awesome experience. It'll definitely be more chill than Coachella- I'm really glad about that. I can NOT handle the coachella crowd. They're just- no.

andddd. That's it for now from me! Until next time!

*Sorry I've missed so many Music Mondays.. I listed to my favorite jams at the moment!

90 thoughts I had on a date with a guy I met online

For some odd reason while I was in the shower, I thought it would be hilarious to write down the thoughts I had the last time I went out on a date. I mean like on a REAL date. You know- the whole sha-bang, meeting the guy, talking, dinner, thinking whether or not he was going to kiss me. FUN STUFF!

Now, I'm going to be totally upfront with you- I haven't been out on a real date for over a year now. This was back when I met my ex-boyfriend. I've been single for quite a while now. Yea, I can hear your thoughts.. "then why are you writing this??" I just felt like this needed to be out in the world okay?! Before you get all judgey. Everyone is online. So why not try online dating?

To begin, let me paint you a picture.
We met online. We talked/flirted for over a month and then we decided it was time to finally meet and go on a date.

Let's go!

  1. Omg. I'm really glad we decided to meet at the outdoor mall. Public place is good. Yes.
  2. There's a lot of people here tonight.
  3. Usually I hate people, but they would be good eye witnesses.
  4. I really hope he's not crazy or a psycho murder or rapist
  5. He's running late..
  6. He's not coming! I'm being stood up. Wow, never had that before.
  7. Oh wait, he just texted me.
  8. He's here. Crap, where were we suppose to meet in front of?
  9. I'm scared. I don't even know what he really looks like!
  10. My hearts pounding. Is it because I'm nervous or walking really fast?
  11. Definitely both.
  12. What if he doesn't look like his profile picture?
  13. What if he's really short? What if he doesn't measure up to what I made up in my head?
  14. Okay, I'm here. Now what?
  15. How am I suppose to know where to look?
  16. He's calling!
  17. He's asking me what I'm wearing.. creepy? No! He needs to make sure I'm the right person.
  18. Ha. I'm being paranoid.
  19. Oh, I see him!
  20. He looks different from what I imagined.
  21. He's walking up!! What do I do? Do I look okay?
  22. Do I go for a hug? Side hug? Handshake?
  23. Oh he's going for the side hug, okay.
  24. He smells nice.
  25. He's asking me to walk with him to his car.
  26. Okay, this is where I get murdered.
  27. I didn't think it would happen so fast. I mean at least buy me dinner first dude!
  28. Wait, he's taking something out.
  29. Here we go!
  30. They're flowers! Aw, so sweet.
  31. Uhh.. do I just carry these around?? I don't wanna look obnoxious.
  32. Okay, he's putting them back in the car. Cool.
  33. Oh, he ran into someone he knows.
  34. Uhh.. awkward.
  35. Is he going to introduce me? Please don't. I don't really know you.
  36. Crap, okay. Hello.
  37. Please go away. This is already awkward as hell.
  38. Thank you.
  39. Alright... guess the date really starts now.
  40. I'm pretty hungry, I hope he made a reservation.
  41. Where's he going..
  42. Why does he keep walking around the mall..
  43. I thought we were going to eat..
  44. Okay, now we're sitting at a bench
  45. Are we not eating??
  46. Oh, he wants to talk more.
  47. WHAT DOES HE WANT TO TALK ABOUT?
  48. There's only so much small talk dude!
  49. I'm not going to reveal my entire life to you.
  50. We just met. This is weird.
  51. An hour and a half just went by.
  52. Are we seriously not eating?
  53. I'm going to say something. I'm starting to get hangry
  54. Good, we're finally going to a restaurant.
  55. Okay, what do I order?
  56. I don't want to seem like a pig.. but I'm pretty hungry and I can eat a lot
  57. I don't want him to think I don't eat though..
  58. What do I do??
  59. Aint no way I'm doing a salad. Effffff that.
  60. Wait, he's ordering for me. Should I be insulted or flattered?
  61. Okay.. more small talk. I can do that.
  62. Food's here.. finally!! I've been waiting for this!
  63. Shit, am I suppose to act all reserve? Fuck it, I'm hungry.
  64. Food's pretty good. I should probably slow down before I choke. That would be bad.
  65. Oh, the check is coming.
  66. Uhhh.... he's getting it right?
  67. I mean.. he's just letting it sit there for a while.
  68. Are we splitting it? What a cheapass.
  69. Wait, he's picking it up!
  70. Oh good. He's not an ass after all.
  71. Alright dinners, over.
  72. Does this mean the date's over? Isn't that what it usually means?
  73. Uh, he wants to walk some more?
  74. DUDE. I AM IN HEELS. WHY.
  75. But since it's the first date, I'll do it.
  76. Everyone's leaving the mall now.
  77. Okay.. the mall's closing.
  78. But he's still talking.... should I tell him?
  79. I don't want to be rude..
  80. Wait, what's going on.
  81. He's leaning in!
  82. He kissed me!
  83. I was totally not expecting that.. AT ALL!
  84. Damn it, I'm all flustered now.
  85. Crap I hope I don't look dumb!
  86. This is awkward... what do you do after someone kisses you?!
  87. He's getting up...
  88. He's walking me to my car.
  89. This was nice.
  90. Interesting date. Especially for meeting him online.

Well there you have it! Hope you guys enjoyed reading it. It was definitely an interesting experience.
