Self conscious & then not giving a fuck

I've never felt insecure about my body until I went to Las Vegas for my 21st birthday. Let me tell you, if you go to Vegas.. make sure you're mentally prepared to get slapped in the face for not going to the gym more often. I've never seen so many gorgeous and perfectly flawless people in my life. ALL the girls there were so skinny and their curves were on point. Let me tell you.. as a girl with no curves, I was extremely self-conscious.

I have always felt my body was a little awkward. I feel like my body hasn't really matured? Is that the word? You know.. like your body doesn't look womanly? I still .. stuck in a girl's body. Like I don't have those sharp features that make a woman. Is that silly to say? Anyway, being in Vegas made me feel ugly. Why you ask? Because it seemed like all the guys wanted those curvy, skinny girls. I didn't have that look. That perfect make-up and hair.. with the right outfit and shoes. Flat out, I did not feel attractive.

Now, I don't consider myself to be ugly nor pretty. I feel like I'm in a different category. Which honestly, I don't mind. I realized through this experience that I DON'T NEED TO BE THAT GIRL. Sometimes that kind of attention is good to be not have. I don't want that look because I feel like that look is not real. Those girls, those guys checking them out and hitting on them based on those looks.. I don't want that. It's not right. It's superficial. I would much rather have a person think I'm attractive based on me.

So what if I don't have those perky boobs. So what if I don't have that skinny waist and perfect face and hair. I'm me. And that's good enough for me. I realized that those girls must have either worked really hard or not at all, but either way.. I don't give a rats ass. I'll never be able to achieve that and I'm okay with that now. I don't care.

They don't matter. I matter. I am me. AWKWARD BODIES woot! So here's to me and my awkwardness. I may not be "hot" and that's okay. My advice to anybody is.. It's okay. Sorry for the rant.. but this is what's been on my mind.

Life Lesson

DON'T DRINK CHEAP WINE. Just don't. Worst headache of your life!

Heavy Hair.. Black Sweater.

This post is going to be a combination of two things. Hair and clothes! I recently cut my hair and did a little shopping. When I say little.. I literally mean like 2 things. I didn't see much I wanted to get.

On Thursday, I cut off like 1-2 inches off my hair. I have really thick and heavy hair.. I was so relieved to cut some of it off. The location I usually went to turned into something else! So I was skeptical to try another place.. but it turns out that my stylist transferred there! Good news for me :) I was worried that someone would mess up my hair.. and with my birthday coming up. It was definitely risky. Anyways.. my stylist styled my hair - ha! (sorry that was funny) and made my hair feel fabulous! She also recommended the Bumble Bumble Dry Spun Finish for my hair. I was having a hard time keeping my hair from falling flat. So I'm definitely going to give it a go!

Love this new shirt! Feels amazing on!

I got this purse for $16.99! WHAT A STEAL! It's gorgeous and I can remove the straps to make it into a clutch! So perfect for switching in and out of. It's sophisticated and cute :) I'm so happy with my purchases.

until next time!

Outsidelands 2014!

So last weekend, me and my friends attended day 3 of the Outsidelands Music Festival in San Francisco. It was such a fun and short trip, I want to go back! We drove up on Saturday.. took us 6 hours! But we made it and explored a little around Berkeley. On Sunday we got dressed and went to the festival. I've never been to like a big festival (besides warped tour) before and I didn't know what to expect. There were a ton of booths with lots of knick knacks.. clothes.. free stuff. It was awesome! We saw Lucius, Flume and the Killers. It may not seem like a lot of bands.. but trust me. Our day was filled with excitement!

Before it got super crowded!

Weather was gloomy when I took this :(

First band of the day.. Lucius! Didn't know who they were but by the end I was in love!

Music Monday!

Hi loves! Sorry, I've been away this week. I was at outside lands! Be on the lookout for a new blog post about it coming soon!

When I was at outsidelands, my friend told me to meet him at the Sutro stage to watch this band called Lucius play. I was sooo glad I went to see them! They were absolutely amazing and totally KILLED their set! The harmonization and music they played were just insane. To be honest, they sound a million times better live ;D

On the road to SF, my friend put on her playlist and this song came up. Needless to say, I fell in love with this song. Ellie Goulding is such an amazing artist, this song is so good. *best to listen to it with headphones.

JULY favorites

It's already Aug 2! I can't believe it! July went by sooo quick! Here are some of the things I've been loving :)

First off! My kitty coin purse. I got this present for Christmas but I haven't used it till now! It's the perfect little purse to put away all my unwanted change.

Kat Von D Tattoo eyeliner - BEST EYELINER! The felt tip is so easy to use and the formula glideson your eye lid so smoothly!

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lip gloss in Maverick - I'm not usually a fan of lip glosses but this one takes the cake. It's makes my lips feel smooth and silky without being super sticky. Ha! That rhymed. The color itself is so close to my natural lip color, so it doesn't look super weird!

The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette by Maybelline - LOVE THIS! I don't usually wear eyeshadow because honestly, I don't really know how to apply it. But having this palette I feel more comfortable putting it on because it's very natural and it blends well with my skin. So even though I put it on wrong, it still looks good!

Ever Curl by Loreal - I'm born with naturally straight hair, so it's practically impossible to curl or make nice waves without using a curling iron. I have finally found something to help me get nice waves without heat! I put this into my damp hair and scrunch up sections. I go to sleep and wake up with textured hair!

Bikini from ASOS - Finally bought a new bikini! I love this one from ASOS. Each piece has really cute ruffles.. perfect for summer :)

What did you love this month?
